They were 15.99 for the both but it was half off furniture the day we went so I got them for $7.50! What a deal! I instantly knew I wanted to make them toy boxes for Baby Brother but was not sure exactly what my vision was.</div>

This awesome fabric...which took me hours to pick out, was only $2 a yard. I got it at Joann's on red tag half off clearance! The orange paint came from Home Depot and I got the sample size. It was less than $3 and I still have half of it left. The chalkboard paint was in my stock and I have gotten so much use out of the can I purchased about a year ago.</div>

Also, lighting is always important when camping. You can create this Mason jar solar lantern with a basic Mason jar and a $1 solar light. Uncap the solar light from its stand. Remove the inner portion of the jar lid and secure the solar light to the top. I used hot glue and twine on this one. Use some heavy wire to wrap around the edge of the jar and create your hanger. Your new lantern will now easily hang from inside your tent. You could also skip hanging it and just set it out on the ground or your camp table.</div>

This spring I am going crazy thinking of all the fun activities I want to do with my family. Warmer months are the perfect time for casual parties, afternoons with backyard water slides, water balloons and homemade popsicles.<br />
<br />
When the weather starts to warm up, I always think of my family’s movie nights, which my family loves. Movie nights are even more fun when you bring them outdoors. My family only does this a few times a year since it takes a little extra effort, but the results and memories are worth it.

On the day of movie night we prepare the yard and start setting up.<br />
<br />
First, you need a projector. Prices for new top-of-the-line projectors can start well into the thousands of dollars. However, along with newer models, many electronics stores carry a range of cheaper, refurbished projectors, and you can find used models starting at around $200. There are also several websites that will rent a projector to you for less than $100. Or you may be able to borrow one from a friend.<br />

Next, you will need a DVD player. Laptops or popular game consoles, such as Xbox or Wii, can serve this purpose, too. You will need A/V cables to hook your player to the projector just like you would with your television. Follow your projector’s instruction manual if you have any difficulties. You will also need sound since the projector will not provide that. If you don’t have stereo speakers, you may find them at yard sales or thrift stores.<br />

Now onto the screen. You can show your movies on anything from a purchased or rented screen to a smooth outdoor wall. I use my photography backdrop stand with a thick white sheet. You could also secure the sheet along the fence or clothes lines.<br />

Then, of course, atmosphere is vital. There are so many ways to create the perfect movie theater feel. I hang string lights for a soft glow. Candles and lanterns will do this as well. For seating, my family uses beanbag and lounge chairs, blankets and even tents. If you are feeling really ambitious, you can pull the couch or a futon outside like my dad used to do.<br />
<br />
Another important component is food. No movie night is complete without snacks. Popcorn, candy and soda are requirements. I also like to get creative. “Buttered Popcorn Cupcakes” is one of our favorite outdoor movie treats.<br />

About 8 egg yolks or 6 ounces (room temperature)
8 1⁄2 ounces milk
1/8 ounces vanilla extract
10 1⁄2 ounces all-purpose flour

10 1⁄2 ounces granulated sugar
19.5 grams (1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon) baking powder
Pinch of salt
6 ounces unsalted butter (room temperature)

DIRECTIONS

<li>Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and place liners in cupcake pan.</li>
<li>Combine the yolks, vanilla and 2 ounces of milk in a bowl and whisk lightly.</li>
<li>Place all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine on low speed.</li>
<li>Add the butter and remaining milk. Mix on low speed until all ingredients are moistened.</li>
<li>Increase to medium speed and beat for 11⁄2 minutes. Scrape down the sides.</li>
<li>Gradually add the egg mixture in three batches, mixing for about 20 seconds and scraping between each addition.</li>
<li>Fill cupcake liners halfway and bake for about 25 to 35 minutes until finished. Let cool before decorating.</li>

<b>Simple Buttercream Icing</b></div>
This easy-to-make, egg-free frosting recipe has been in my family for generations. It’s not only great on cupcakes, but also for decorating cookies for holidays, birthdays and parties. To add coloring to the icing, use color paste.

INGREDIENTS

1⁄2 cup shortening
1⁄2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons milk

DIRECTIONS

<li>In a large bowl, cream together the butter, shortening and vanilla.</li>
<li>Blend in the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.</li>
<li>Beat in the milk, and continue mixing until light and fluffy.</li>
<li>Keep icing covered until ready to decorate.</li>

<b>Marshmallow “Popcorn”</b></div>
For cupcake topping, you can get creative with marshmallow “popcorn.” You will need regular-size marshmallows, yellow food coloring and a little powdered sugar.<br />

First, color half of your batch of marshmallows yellow and let them dry.

Next, make a small cut in the middle of each marshmallow and then make three small cuts in their tops. Twist the marshmallows lightly at the middle. Then press the three “petal” shapes made from the three cuts lightly until they begin to fan out. Viola! Your marshmallows look like popcorn.<br />
<br />
The more shapes you make, the better the “popcorn” will look. If the marshmallows get sticky while you are manipulating them, dust them lightly with powdered sugar. Be aware that the sugar will dull the yellow color of the marshmallows. So use it sparingly.<br />

As a child one of my fondest memories was our Christmas countdown. I get my creativity and craftiness from my grandmother, “Ma”. She handmade a Christmas Bell countdown that hung on the wall along with our other holiday décor. Normally I saw these made with paper links, but ours had chocolate kisses! Each night we would take a kiss until they were all gone...on Christmas Eve. The excitement I felt as a child stayed with me, and when my son was born I couldn’t wait until he was old enough to partake in the fun! </div>

This advent was kind of like one of my son’s gifts. Each day had a special surprise inside. I took two 16 x 20 canvases and painted them. Take 24 clothespins and adhere Christmas scrapbook paper to them. Hot glue them to the canvas. I used 24 mini sacks and added little gifts inside. <br />

Tie them up with baker's twine (I made this myself using kite string and grey markers) the bakers twine was for a little bit of decoration as well as to ensure that he didn’t peep. The numbers were printed on top of digital scrapbook paper that and punched with a circle scalloped 1.5' punch. Some items I included were: coins, gift cards and candy.<br />

This advent is fun to make and would go well with rustic themed décor. Years ago I worked in a restaurant that sold deserts in these mini buckets. Most people just threw them away (crazy right?) so I collected them and put them up for a rainy day! I found the old potato chip display at the thrift store for less than a buck. I made chalkboard labels by using a craft punch and cardstock along with chalkboard paint. All the evergreen swag was a yard sale find for a quarter. Inside each bucket I place different activities to do each night until Christmas. A few are a clue as to where a small gift might be hidden. This advent would be great for older children.<br />

I used a large Mason jar for this project. Coat the inside with brown paint (or whatever color you’d like) turn it upside down and allow the paint to drain out. Let it dry for at least 24 hrs. </div>

Using a craft punch make your ‘tags’ onto colored cardstock. </div>

I saw some cute river rock and floral wire photo holders the other day online. So I thought I'd make some to go with Mr. B's room since he likes to collect rocks. </div>

im so glad i got the idea to try to make these...it started when i saw in Lowe's Creative Ideas magazine. the tutorial they showed looked so easy...weeeellll...it was easy but the first time was hard! and there are some flaws to their recipe!</div>

mix equal parts of perlite/quickrete/peat moss into a large container (make sure your gloves are on!)</div>

for the three planters that I made I used 4 quarts of each mixed together. then add your water. add water until you have the consistency of cottage cheese and when you ball up the mixture it kinda stays together. (see above photo)</div>

next spray your containers with your pam/cooking spray. for the first attempt i followed the instructions and used a separate container to stack on the inside and press the edges together. (see photo below of containers inside the bag) this method made it difficult to remove them. it messed up my containers because even with the pam i had to break them to remove them. i waited 2 days and tried to remove from the molds and this was the result.</div>

sadly i had to start over...so i did a little research and saw a video from a few years ago on <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/268962/hypertufa-pots" target="_blank">martha stewart's (my hero) show</a>. they did not use an interior mold instead they just packed it into the mold(see photo above)...because who cares what the inside of your planter looks like?? you are gonna have it covered with soil & plants!</div>

 after a few days i used a rubber hammer (or in my case a rubber tip for a regular hammer) and beat lightly around the edges. slide it out of the mold and use a piece of sand paper to sand any rough edges. place them back into the plastic bag and store them in a dry place for a few weeks. it's very humid here in the south and i found i had to wait an extra week to make sure they were cured. i did not drill a hole in them like it says to...not sure if thats going to be a problem but for drainage i used rocks in the bottom layer. i was too afraid to try to drill since my first batch fell apart and this had been 6 weeks in the making since i first started the project. here is my end result.</div>

so far they have held up nicely even in the rain. it's been 2 weeks and i havent had any problems. my next batch i will be using some of the techniques martha mentioned for adding texture and patterns...might even try some concrete dye to make colored planters for christmas gifts this year!</div>

It has a plastic frame but the frame is in excellent shape AND the mirror is high quality....really a good piece. It is about 4 feet high too so i really really wanted it in my living room since I have no wall decor in there at all.</div>

I ended up getting the mirror for $5!! WOW i couldnt believe it! I took it home and immediately got ready to paint it white! since i have been talked out of painting my living room white i decided that most of my wall decor will be white and i wish i could have a white couch but with an 8 year old boy in the house that is not gonna happen! plus i am so clumsy....it would probably be me that makes the first stain on it!</div>
