Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream

i love homemade ice cream. this recipe is BY FAR one of the easiest you will find. even if you are just a plain ole vanilla ice cream person...this recipe is the base of pretty much any other homemade ice cream you would like to make.

to start out with the homemade strawberry shortcake ice cream you will need to make vanilla. here is my homemade vanilla recipe:


4 c. half-and-half or light cream
1 (14 oz) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 TBSP vanilla extract
in large bowl, combine ingredients; mix well. pour into ice cream maker. make according to manufacturer's instructions. freeze leftovers.

Ta-Da! It's that simple. BUT.... you gotta add a few more things before you serve or put in the freezer. you will also need: 

fresh strawberries (about one c. chopped) 
8 slices of pound cake (homemade recipe coming soon but for now i recommend sara lee frozen pound cake)

clean and slice your berries...add them. slice your cake into cubes...add them. top with berries and cake if you choose or some cool whip!
