I saw these skates as we were browsing and fawned over them. Leisel surprised me by buying them as my gift from her. thrifty shopping trip to pell city alabama

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
yesterday my mom, B & i set out on a day of thrifting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
we decided to hit up pell city and take the back roads as there are a lot of little shops along u.s. hwy 78 that are always fun to stop at.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
our first stop was the treasure chest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
this was our first time stopping in. she had the antique shop feel going on with vendors purchasing booth space. there were a lot of neat things there as well as clothing consignments. we saw this framed topo map of hawaii and B wanted to buy it. he is so silly. hawaii has no special meaning for us...and it was $25 which is a good price but not for a 9 year old to play with!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

mama got several inexpensive christmas gifts and then we headed on to the next stop.<br />
<br />
less than a mile from the treasure chest we found tidlee winks. the outside of her shop was very bright and decorated with hand painted signs. she had a lot of thrift/vintage stuff but some things she did not want to sell....why do you even have them in your store if you do not want to sell them? she had a cool ernest pull string doll for $10 that i got down to test ( i so would have bought it for B because he loves ernest almost as much as my little brother) and the owner got angry at me for touching...HELLO i am an adult and a paying customer...im not going to purchase something like this without trying it out!<br />
mama got a troll doll for little KC since she thinks they are so funny (<a href="http://www.bmpblog.com/2013/05/kc-turns-one-east-alabama-child.html" target="_blank">see her troll doll love here)</a><br />
i might stop here again and give this cute little shop another try. sometimes people are just having a bad day!<br />

<br />
our next stop was the pink variety store.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
this store is an overstock wholesale type store but we always seem to find something that we need around the house. they also have MEGA hardware items, loose nuts, bolts, screws and nails as well as decor items. this is always a must stop for our pell city trips!<br />
<br />
while at the pink store one of the cashiers told us about elijah's barrel on main street so we decided to check them out.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0RUI96pOLcRs6dhpLFXWq0GO6_hnh_7ZYjbSSD88rnLH1MqpilEZDwLCUmlYN8KrdOKZlnRHF2X7Ujwxaq_EwpJe1Ss_DfVBzu9aIUngJuiZlo4JLyJ3sOLcr5FQsW7YtQCNLrVZAy1h1/s1600/elijahs+barrell.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="572" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0RUI96pOLcRs6dhpLFXWq0GO6_hnh_7ZYjbSSD88rnLH1MqpilEZDwLCUmlYN8KrdOKZlnRHF2X7Ujwxaq_EwpJe1Ss_DfVBzu9aIUngJuiZlo4JLyJ3sOLcr5FQsW7YtQCNLrVZAy1h1/s640/elijahs+barrell.jpg" width="640" /></a>i am so glad that we did. this thrift store was so amazing. one of the best i have ever been to. it has the feel of an antique store with thrift pricing.<br />
<br />
they were also having a half off summer sale so everything except books was half off!<br />
the staff was so friendly. there were 2 sides to this place. they had matching buildings across from the street of each other. they had adult clothing and accessories with a few odds and ends on one side and then they had children clothes and household items on the other. i cannot say enough good things about this place. i will definitely be back soon to see what else we can find!<br />

Time to Re-Organize for the New Year

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Ahhh… the wonder of Christmas! The lights, the decorations, the
holiday smells. The excitement and anticipation you feel as you’re
putting items out for the holidays. Oh what fun it is....to unpack and remember past holiday memories with each new item you set out.<br />
<br />
And then, BAM, it’s over and you need to put everything away. Not fun....at least not in my house! Christmas is our favorite time of year and I love making crafts & I love my craft supplies. I wish I could leave them out year round. <br />
<br />
<br />
Enjoy these photos of my crazy house and my Christmas crafting area (which is in my dinning room and keep in mind this is only part of my crafting stuff....the other area is way to messy and embarrassing to share.) </div>

DIY Yard Sale Mirror Makeover

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have had this project finished for about 2 weeks now and am just now getting around to posting it! (Shame on me!) BUT I have been a busy lady! Mr. B's birthday was this past week and we had a week long celebration (that is still ongoing I might add)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
ANYWAYS.... I found this mirror at a yard sale...it had 2 stickers on it one sai $10 and the other said $20. It has a plastic frame but the frame is in excellent shape AND the mirror is high quality....really a good piece. It is about 4 feet high too so i really really wanted it in my living room since I have no wall decor in there at all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimrIy2VRhbuqXcfinADOOtzVI9BimCUQNqc2n-0fzU-93YMHwLVYRrW9E4zoc6yWiIyCO16GTjCwT8onFOF5gu413ymDjFrHJCjJIqoL7EH87bynAJpQv3e5_5ELH2Ni53SgbAq76hoZ5N/s1600/Yard+Sale+Mirror+Makeover+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimrIy2VRhbuqXcfinADOOtzVI9BimCUQNqc2n-0fzU-93YMHwLVYRrW9E4zoc6yWiIyCO16GTjCwT8onFOF5gu413ymDjFrHJCjJIqoL7EH87bynAJpQv3e5_5ELH2Ni53SgbAq76hoZ5N/s640/Yard+Sale+Mirror+Makeover+1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I ended up getting the mirror for $5!! WOW i couldnt believe it! I took it home and immediately got ready to paint it white! since i have been talked out of painting my living room white i decided that most of my wall decor will be white and i wish i could have a white couch but with an 8 year old boy in the house that is not gonna happen! plus i am so clumsy....it would probably be me that makes the first stain on it!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
along the sides of the mirror i put painters tape up under the lip of the frame and onto the mirror. then i covered with cardboard and taped it down.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
i set some old bpxes i was planning on recycling out in the yard and placed the mirror on top. then i went to town with my spray paint. i used about a half can.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
i love that the "wood grain" still shows up! it looks like i bought it at the store this way. i can't even tell it was spray painted. at this point though i was worried that i might have gotten too carried away and had paint on the mirror itself.</div>

Beach Bathroom Thrift Store Mirror Makeover

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
like i said in one of my recent posts i am officially a homeowner. starting over from scratch is very overwhelming...but that's the thing...i get to start over! fresh new designs and decor! and by new i mean thrift store and yard sale junk turned into one of a kind pieces!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
my sad bathroom looked like it had been stripped bare (like the rest of the house) and it had no mirror. so i searched around on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/amandalcausey" target="_blank">pinterst</a> at ideas...got prices at home improvement stores...and looked at yard sales/thrift stores...and i came to one conclusion... a good mirror is freaking expensive. so i decided to tough it out and wait. i only had to wait a few days because i found this on. at first it had a price of $20 and one of the thrift store workers heard me saying "i'm not spending $20 on this mirror. someone tried to paint it and did a crappy job even though its close to the color i want and it's too small." so she offered to mark it down to $5. so i jumped at that price and brought it home.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdMBiZqEDif0VptJsrXH-JkDzy6TqQ7WWKZ4O3dfpD0kToxeikY7UyBfXDBmLhClG0JGJKULKHUKYbBWsvRHRUepj4Ut8iZNJRQqa3YDIta8q2N0ONY62mymwGiBGSBI0rp37GW9ZcNITo/s1600/Thrift+Store+Mirror+Makeover+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdMBiZqEDif0VptJsrXH-JkDzy6TqQ7WWKZ4O3dfpD0kToxeikY7UyBfXDBmLhClG0JGJKULKHUKYbBWsvRHRUepj4Ut8iZNJRQqa3YDIta8q2N0ONY62mymwGiBGSBI0rp37GW9ZcNITo/s640/Thrift+Store+Mirror+Makeover+1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
even though this mirror is smaller than i wanted ( and a good friend of mine offered me a larger one from her yard sale stash so ill get a larger one) the quality of the mirror was great.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

i took the mirror out and cleaned the frame and mirror up.</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
since this is going into my "cottage beach chic" style bathroom ( if it actually ends up looking like that we shall only wait and see) i like the light blue/grey/green tones that go along with that theme. so i didnt have to worry about priming the frame since it is close to the color i wanted. i just mixed my paint and painted away. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
after i got done painting 2 coats of blue it needed a little something else. since it is very weathered and it had a really cool design etched into the wood on the inside and outside edge i decided to accent them with a sea green color. then i accented the corners with a little as well. i attached a star fish i painted (its one we found a few years back) and a natural star fish that i purchased on a recent beach trip.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
so.. im not sure if i have ever blogged about "the free box"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
well here it goes: where my mom works (and where i use to work) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
we have a free box (which is now a free closet)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
whoever has something they want to donate to the thrift or just throw away</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
they bring it to the free box ( i will never call it the free closet)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
((and yes i am one of those people who will call it whatever i want to))</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
i dont remember how the free box came to be but it has been very helpful to</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
people in need...and for people who are not in need and just collect junk (like me)</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
anyways back to my free stuff for today...</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
my mom brought some items home to me yesterday <br />
and asked me if i wanted them</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
duh...i did... there are a ton of vintage buttons here and some old vinyl records</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
the records are not from anyone popular but the titles on them are pretty awesome</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
AND they will go towards my project i have been working on for a while <br />
(it's top secret)</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
((i will share with you at a later date))</div>
