Tomorrow is "Love Your Pet Day" so in honor of this I wanted to post some pet crafts I have found online.

one of the absolute best places to find pet crafts is at MarthaStewart.com As much as it kills me to say this (because Martha is one of my all time favorite people and inspirations) some of her crafts are for more advanced crafters. however, i found a few from her that are not that advanced.

also since i have an extreme dislike towards feline pets this post will be dog oriented! sorry cat lovers...

and it would be a disservice to myself if i didnt mention a song that is so dear to my childhood.
the best version of 'how much is that doggie'
patti page has such an amazing voice!

and i also have to add a photo of the newest member of my little family.
we rescued her off the side of the road on a stormy day.
she is a chi-weenie and the sweetest thing ever...unless she is eating our socks!

Happy White T-Shirt Day everyone!
btw this is an old photo of my son...not quite a white t shirt
but close enough!

This holiday celebrates the men and women who participated in a strike at General Motors in 1937. "These autoworkers helped the United Auto Workers (UAW) union to become the sole bargaining agent for General Motors autoworkers." As part of the symbolism of this strike, everyone wears a white shirt or blouse.

Note: This holiday started out as 'White Shirt Day' but some how over the years the title turned into White T-Shirt Day for those who didn't know the history of the holiday therefore created their own version of this day, giving birth to the title "White T Shirt Day" . This holiday mostly celebrates the fun of wearing the ever so popular white t-shirt instead of what it was originally intended to celebrate.

Origin of this Holiday

According to the UAW's website, the traditions of the original White Shirt Day is as follows: 1) Everyone must wear a white shirt or blouse 2)Your white shirt must not get dirtier than your boss's shirt 3) Safety and work rules must be followed.

This holiday is referred to as a "National" day- However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though we didn't, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate. So enjoy the day and have fun with it.

The Oshawa Strike, 1937 : (source)
On April 8, 1937, disputes between 4000 assembly line workers and General Motors management led to the Oshawa Strike, a salient event in the history of Canadian trade unionism. As the weight of the Great Depression slowly began to lift, demand for automobiles again began to grow. The workers sought higher wages, an eight hour workday, better working conditions and recognition of their union, the United Auto Workers (Local 222). The then-Liberal government of Mitchell Hepburn, which had, ironically, been elected on a platform of being the working man's friend, sided with the corporation and even brought in armed university students to break up any union agitation. Fortunately, these much-derided "Hepburn's Hussars" and "Sons of Mitches" were never needed as the union refused to be drawn into any violent act. The union and workers had the backing of the local population, other unions and the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, and on April 23, two weeks after the strike started, the company gave in to most of the workers' demands, although -- pointedly -- it did not recognize the union.

so what to do in celebration? you can throw a party... tie-dye bash from shindigz

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through a great constitutional, military and moral crisis – the American Civil War – preserving the Union, while ending slavery, and promoting economic and financial modernization. Reared in a poor family on the western frontier, Lincoln was mostly self-educated. He became a country lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, and a one-term member of the United States House of Representatives, but failed in two attempts to be elected to the United States Senate. Mantel Decor

This St. Patrick’s Day mantel is loaded with crafts for you to have yours decorated in no time!
To get this look here is what you will need: Mason Jars or glass containers, split peas, paper shamrock flowers, adhesive spray and various other elements to decorate your items.

The Shamrock Banner, St. Patrick’s Day Framed Expression, and Shamrock Flower template can be downloaded free.

To make this banner simply print the template. I used twine to hang but you can
whatever you like. Cut out template, punch holes at edges and run your string of
choice through them. Simple as that!

The jar vases were made by using spray adhesive and rolling in a tray of split peas.
 I used the same method I did with a previous project.
I embellished them with left over tulle from my Christmas wrapping paper.

The flower luminaries are paper doilies wrapped in twine with a fabric flower attached to the front. Split peas left over from the vases are in the bottom to help balance the candle.
Get your child involved in this magical craft. Create the perfect St. Patrick’s Day accessory for the cutest little leprechaun in your life!

Supplies: Orange Yarn & Pipe Cleaner & Dollar Store Hat

 Cut yarn around 4 inches long. I used about 40 pieces. You can always trim the beard later if its too long. Loop it through the pipe cleaner from one side to the other. Leave about a half inch on each side to hook behind the ears.

Loop at the middle point of the yarn like the photo below (im not sure what this type of knot is called...if you know please comment below!)

Make the beard as full as youd like. I chose to go from ear to ear.

enjoy!

This project is perfect for Valentine’s Day décor or change the color scheme and have one for every holiday or season.

::Supplies::
Styrofoam Wreath Base{10 inch}
1.5” Ribbon{6 yards}
Cupcake Liners {50}
Hot Glue Gun

wrap the ribbon around the wreath base. keep the ribbon tight. this part will not be very visible so don’t worry if it is not perfect. hot glue at the end.

 bunch cupcake liners so the sides are close together with the opened end looking like flower petals.

 go all the way around the top and then work around to the outside. do not glue liners on the inside of the wreath unless you are using a much larger base., it will look like a big ball if you do…..trust me.

 when complete attach ribbon of your choice to the back side of the wreath base. Add any embellishments that you would like {for this particular wreath I just added a paper flower to the top of the ribbon.}

there are many other uses for this project. you can make it centerpiece for a party or your dinner table. it can also be used with a picture frame. enjoy!
